Holiday fundraiser will provide seniors in affordable housing with essential items, gift cards.
EUGENE — This holiday season St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County (SVdP) is calling on the community for donations in support of the Season of Joy 2024 fundraiser. Season of Joy is an opportunity for community members to get into the spirit of giving by offering a monetary donation toward the purchase of essential items and gift cards for an often-overlooked population around the holiday season. In times when being on fixed income leaves many senior residents having to choose between buying household needs or presents for their grandchildren, the Season of Joy program lifts that burden.
“I was able to save money on essential items and use my money to buy some fun stuff to give as Christmas gifts for my friends and family,” SVdP resident.
Senior residents living in SVdP’s affordable-housing properties will benefit from the Season of Joy 2024 fundraiser in the form of gift baskets filled with essential items for daily living which will support them beyond the holiday season.
“Receiving the cleaning supplies gave me hope that I’d be able to clean well enough to pass my inspection.”
Season of Joy, administered by SVdP’s Resident Services department, is in its second year of operation. Last year the community raised more than $7,000 in donations which provided seniors with hygiene items and other household essentials. Those interested in making a donation toward a gift can do so online at www.svdp.us.
“Receiving the gift tote helped lift my depression, knowing that somebody cares,” said one SVdP resident.
The Resident Services department acts as a liaison between SVdP Property Management, tenants and the community. Their team will use donations to purchase and build gift baskets which will be presented to residents during the holidays.
Your donations are an important part in delivering happy holidays to those in need.
