Supported Work Experience
Supported Work Experience Program
Reentering the work force or entering the work force for the very first time can be a difficult undertaking when you haven’t had the opportunity to develop your strengths and refine your skillsets to the right job. Filling out applications and cover letters can be complicated and confusing. Barriers to employment are a driving force in keeping individuals in poverty. The Supported Work Experience Program was designed in partnership with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) for community members currently receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families).
What Is Supported Work?
Supported Work is a referral based, 90-day program which places participants in various positions throughout our vast organization. Participants build work experience to support re-entry into the workforce. Many of our Supported Work graduates go on to become full time employees with St. Vincent de Paul based on experience and desire.
