First Place Family Center (FPFC) is St. Vincent de Paul’s day shelter and service access point for families experiencing homelessness. FPFC addresses basic needs and provides essential social services to families with children under age 18.
Services at FPFC
The FPFC facility offers a warm, inviting space to access basic needs. Families can access showers, free laundry, a food pantry and kitchen, and other support services during daytime hours. Our staff-led resources include:
- Clothing vouchers, on-site clothing and hygiene supply needs
- Internet and computer access
- Phone access
- Mailing address
- Community information and referral, including Front Door Assessments to local and agency Supportive Housing Programs
- Bus tokens and shuttle service to and from the Annex Night Shelter
- Assistance obtaining identification documents

Housed within FPFC, First Place Kids (FPK) operates as a high-quality, trauma-informed therapeutic child care center for children aged 0-5 with low entry barriers compared to mainstream programs. To access this program, families can contact FPFC.
Eligible families may also access the First Place Annex Night Shelter where we offer overnight accommodations, meals, and wraparound case management support for families transitioning into stable housing.
Location and Hours
To practice safety during the Covid-19 pandemic, only 4-5 families will be allowed on site at a time, depending on the services being used.

Coronavirus Rent Relief
While FPFC is administering Coronavirus Rent Relief through Lane County, all families seeking this support must first apply for assistance through Lane County. Information on how to apply for assistance can be found on the County website: https://www.lanecounty.org/rent.
Support First Place Family Center
Community members can support FPFC by donating money or by providing items most needed by First Place guests of all ages.
