Veterans’ Housing Project

The Veterans Housing Project (VHP) was developed in 2011 as a collaborative effort of private, public and nonprofit organizations to provide safe and affordable housing to help military veterans transition easily back into the community upon returning from deployment. Founders include the City of Eugene, Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB), the Homebuilders Association of Lane County (HBA) and St. Vincent de Paul. In the past decade, VHP has grown into a case-managed transitional housing program that plays an important role in our community.

    Services at VHP

    • Transitional housing for up to two years
    • Wrap-around and client-centered case management
    • Assistance obtaining mainstream and VA benefits
    • Referrals to VA Healthcare and community partners for primary care, mental health, and substance use treatment
    • Referrals to Self Sufficiency Programs at St. Vincent de Paul
    • For veterans able to work, assistance with job training and placement

    Eligibility

VHP serves veterans with discharges other than dishonorable who are experiencing literal homelessness – sleeping on the streets, in a car, in emergency shelter – who earn less than 80% Area Median Income.

Please Note: The program is typically at capacity and has a waitlist.
