Nonprofit will engage community with same-day picnic/fundraiser, tent sale and job fair.
EUGENE — Saturday, July 20, just might be the most action-packed day ever planned at the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County (SVdP) headquarters. Fun-seeking families, bargain-hunting shoppers, and job-searching community members all will have reason to stop by 2890 Chad Drive that day — when a parking-lot picnic fundraiser, St. Vinnie’s tent sale, and SVdP job fair all will take place on different sides of the main building.
“We’re very excited to connect with our community on what’s sure to be a beautiful summer day here at our place,” says SVdP Executive Director Bethany Cartledge. “We invite everyone to come enjoy a festive summer picnic with us, with hot dogs, ice cream, fun games and activities for everyone in the family, and chances to win great prizes — all while ticket sales support the important work we do to help our most vulnerable neighbors.
“And just as we celebrate with our neighbors in our back parking lot, we’ll offer brand-new ZINUS products and other specialty furniture at half-price during a tent sale in front of our Chad Drive store,” Cartledge adds. “At the same time, job seekers will be able to explore the wide variety of employment opportunities with St. Vinnie’s during a job fair, and interview on the spot for some of our many open positions!”

Vinnie’s Summer Parking Lot Picnic & Fundraiser
11 a.m. to 3 p.m., East Parking Lot (opposite side of building from St. Vinnie’s store parking lot). Food, prizes and fun family games. Featuring grilled hot dogs and bratwursts, ice cream and cold drinks, plus musical chairs, a cake walk, activities for all ages, prize wheel, raffle and more. Ticket sales support SVdP human services and affordable housing. Prepaid food/games cards are available for $18 each via presale by July 12, or $20 at the gate. Food-only tickets are $9 via presale by July 12, or $10 on event day.
SVdP Job Fair
11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Admin Parking Lot (directly in front of SVdP administration entrance facing Chad Drive). Free job fair with information, applications and even same-day interviews for some open positions. SVdP is hiring across multiple departments, programs and service areas, offering employees many opportunities to
make a positive impact on the community and take pride in doing meaningful work while earning a competitive wage and benefit package. More employment information and an online application can be found online.
St. Vinnie’s Tent Sale
10 a.m. to 7 p.m., West Parking Lot (on lawn at front edge of St. Vinnie’s store parking lot). July 20 tent sale at Chad location only will feature prices reduced by as much as 50 percent on all new ZINUS and other name-brand specialty furniture. St. Vinnie’s sources many customer returns, floor models, last-season’s styles, and new-in-the-box overstock products from well-known retailers and passes them on to customers at significant discounts. St. Vinnie’s normally prices these items at 1/3 to 1/2 off retail price and will further cut those prices by as much as half during the tent sale.
Getting there/parking
SVdP of Lane County’s main campus is at 2890 Chad Drive, Eugene, OR 97408. The easy-to-find location is just off of Coburg Road north of Beltline, immediately past Costco and the Oregon Community Credit Union headquarters on Chad Drive. During peak times on July 20, parking might be limited on the SVdP property; guests are encouraged to seek overflow parking just across Chad Drive at Eugene Christian School, that day only.
