California Cars for a Cause Program

What Is California Cars For A Cause?

Cars for a Cause is a partnership program between St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County and The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7143 based in Esparto, Calif. The program accepts used vehicle donations from community members in order to generate revenue for initiatives supporting Californian veterans via the VFW.

How It Works:

The Veteran Cars for a Cause program accepts vehicle donations from residents in the greater Stockton area. Donors receive a tax-deductible receipt in exchange for their used vehicle. Cars are then shipped north to St. Vincent de Paul’s Used Car Lot in Eugene, OR where they are resold.

Supporting California Veterans:

Proceeds from vehicle sales are directed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7143 in Esparto, California. Remaining proceeds are directed back into SVdP’s local human-service programs including those in its Veteran Services department, along with day-access shelters for unhoused families, emergency weather shelters, and more.

How Do I Donate?

SVdP is accepting used vehicles in good working condition at our Stockton-based DR3 recycling facility. Staff will be able to facilitate the paperwork and provide each donor with a tax receipt for the donated vehicle.
