As the COVID-19 emergency came to the Willamette Valley, many of St. Vincent de Paul’s familiar operations were shut down, including St. Vinnie’s retail stores and its administrative and social service offices. But the Theron Atkinson Food Room carried on, thanks to a staff willing to reinvent the delivery process to meet an increased demand for emergency food as well as comply with rules for social distancing. You’ll see why our staff takes such care as you meet these grateful recipients and Tank, the service dog. They picked up a few of the 1,800 boxes being given each month.
The Food Room is located at the back of the Lindholm Center, 456 Hwy 99N in Eugene. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
