Most folks take a warm shower for granted. Not so, the unhoused adults sheltering in St. Vincent de Paul’s facilities on Hwy 99N and at the Lane County Fairgrounds. Showers are available to more than 350 people, but during specific hours and in a socially distant queue.
For Shawn, who shelters at the Fairgrounds and uses a wheelchair, showering there is impossible. St. Vinnie’s Ashley Raman did a workaround, and Shawn is happy to share his gratitude, and his perspective on how the COVID-19 pandemic reminds us that we’re all equals.
