A Moment In Time Presenting Sponsor:

SVdP case manager Sonja Spencer, left, starred in the success story shared by her Connections client, Cherie.

Had the stalwart Wheeler Pavilion sprung a leak on Nov. 22, St. Vincent de Paul would have been well prepared with dozens of bright umbrellas poised overhead. Instead, during “A Moment In Time,” the liquid flowed from glasses and bottles, and the colorful canopy served to symbolize the “umbrella of services” that St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County raises over individuals and families in crisis.

More than 300 sponsors and guests turned out for an evening of good company and good deeds enacted through auction purchases, a dessert dash, and a whole lot of paddle raising as encouraged by auctioneers Sid Voorhees and Matt Hogan, and emcee Tracy Berry of Barrett, Fox & Berry radio fame.

The audience listened intently as several participants in SVdP programs described their experiences, from the lowest lows of poverty fueled by addiction, to progress, stumbles, and more progress in SVdP programs, to this evening when they starred as shining examples of success. After one client told of her fight with addiction, finding her passion in caregiving, and finally how she now owns the eldercare facility where she first worked, audience members arose in thunderous applause.

The program also featured the piano stylings of Henry Lorenz and a floor show by Dance Contraption Repertory Company from Dance Factory.

On behalf of the thousands of individuals and families touched by St. Vincent de Paul services and programs, a heartfelt “thank you” goes out to all who supported and attended 2019 A Moment In Time.

Nobody loves a live auction like Sara (center, left) of Bergsund-Delaney Architects, table sponsor with Dougherty Landscape Architects.
Heads or tails proves to be a "battle of wine."
Sandy Watkinson brought her quilting friends.
