Nearly 40 “Work The Problem” At Cascade Alliance Event

Waste-based enterprises dot the national landscape since the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation partnered with St. Vincent de Paul to promote re-use and recycling as a means of creating sustainable jobs. They are united as Cascade Alliance, a network dedicated to creating jobs and access to health care, decreasing nonprofit reliance upon grants and donations by teaching revenue-producing strategies, and promoting environmental stewardship through reuse and recycling.

Well, easier maybe, but we’re thinking of the cold weather ahead, the challenges it creates for homeless families, and how our winter gala, “A Moment In Time,” will help. Ninkasi Pints Benefit First Place On Oct. 30th

Raise a pint at Ninkasi on Oct. 30th and help First Place Family Center.

Raise a pint with friends Oct. 30 at Ninkasi Brewing Company and help homeless families with children at First Place Family Center. Beginning at noon a portion of proceeds from pints sold will go to First Place. Hot Mama's Wings await. Irish Echo takes the stage at 7 p.m. Don't miss this uniquely Eugene event!

Honoring Angels With Hands And Paws

Dogs are angels, too.

An angel-in-training raised the woof Oct. 2 as part of St. Vincent de Paul’s annual culinary tribute to its volunteers, donors and business partners. Zippy, a Pomeranian mix, follows in the footsteps of the late Tikva, a legendary crisis response dog owned and trained by Cindy Ehlers of Eugene.
