If it seems like residential subdivisions are springing up overnight, consider the Wetleau Estates development in Lowell. It’s not quite as old as the picturesque hills that surround it, but more than a decade after the City of Lowell offered it to St. Vincent de Paul as an avenue for creating affordable housing, five buildable lots still bask in the glow of 11 completed homes and two in progress. What’s taken so long?

That is correct, and what’s tremendous is that St. Vinnie’s and its community partners are already at work to collect the array of supplies and new backpacks to be distributed to low-income and homeless kids who might otherwise start school without. Marist Students Pay The Price For Informality, Youth House

Students at Marist High School recently joined the growing ranks of donors to the St. Vincent de Paul Youth House when the school's Key Club raised $300 to help fund the conversion of the former Presbyterian Church at 3350 Willamette St. in Eugene into housing for homeless high school girls ages 16 through 18. Their secret? Timing, of course, and knowing their market.

Ground Shaken, Not Stirred, For Youth House

Less than a year after deciding to venture into creating a refuge that provides free housing and social services to homeless high school students, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County had an "earth-shaking" groundbreaking for its Youth House on July 10. The site is the former Cascade-Presbyterian Church at 3350 Willamette St.
