Let’s Get Kids Ready For School!

Happiness is a new backpack in colors to match your sundress.

Remember how excited you were to get brand-new school supplies, and to pack and repack them into your own colorful carrier? New school supplies signal a fresh beginning, a new school year. More importantly, they provide kids with the tools they need to learn and, along with a backpack, a means of carrying them.

Now imagine your family  struggling to pay for rent, utilities and other basic needs. Compared to food, a new box of crayons might not seem so important. That's why St. Vincent de Paul provides new school supplies and backpacks to hundreds of local children every year in partnership with Oregon Community Credit Union, It's also why we're asking for your help.

Dedrick, 5, and Derrick, 6, have been happily camping with their folks for more than a month. Their mom, Teri, is relieved to have school supplies in-hand, as their money is going toward daily expenses and a housing fund. She's hoping to get into housing by the time school starts. Thanks to our School Supply Sponsors, including Sarah Allen, far right, and Oregon Community Credit Union for helping with this important outreach for kids.

Please donate to the Backpacks for Back to School drive. Our goal is to provide backpacks full of school supplies for every student in our area who needs them. Because of generous donors like you, last year more than 2,000 kids went back to school with all their supplies.

Thank you in advance for helping make this year’s Backpacks for Back to School the best ever. Your support means a great deal to us and the children we serve. Here's what you can do to help

Make a donation to the school supply drive:

Donate school supplies at one of the following locations:

Items with the highest demand include backpacks, thumb drives, pens and #2 pencils, erasers, 1" to 3" binders, notebook paper (wide and college ruled), Crayola crayons, glue sticks, rulers, hand sanitizer, and facial tissue.
