In Their Own Words: Thanks For The Holiday Food

Volunteers at St. Alice Church pack holiday food boxes. This year St. Vincent de Paul gave away 2,300 boxes

Approximately 2,300 Holiday Food Boxes were distributed by St. Vinnie's Atkinson Food Room, and by some of the SVdP conferences that are based at Catholic churches throughout Lane County. Recipients received a turkey or a ham and chicken to serve as a centerpiece of their holiday meal. They also got fresh rolls from Franz Bread, fresh apples and oranges, and canned goodies such as cranberries, black olives, and green beans. (Watch this video to see food box recipients say "thank you" in their own words.)

This is the 50th year St. Vincent de Paul has provided holiday food boxes to the community, and it remains the largest holiday food box agency in Lane County. We're glad we can do something to make the season a bit brighter for our neighbors in need, and grateful to the hundreds of community donors and volunteers (like the folks from St. Alice Church, above) who make this annual event possible.
